Welcome! I'm Rachel, a Portland, Oregon-based photographer dedicated to documenting the beautiful bond between you and your pet.
I'm a lifelong animal lover and proud dog mom to my late girls, Luna and Pepper. They live in my heart and inspired this entire journey-in fact, my business name, Luper, is a mashup of their names.
I took tons of photos of them (much to Pepper's disapproval!) and I deeply cherish our silly selfies. But looking back, I wish I had professional photos of us just being us-photos I could display and enjoy every day.
That wish is exactly why I do this. My mission is to capture those real, tender moments of you with your furry family, so that you may hold them forever.
These are my girls and my inspiration. Luna was my golden retriever, usually a typical golden goofball, but I caught her here in a rare, serious moment of reflection. Pepper was my black lab, who famously refused to pose for the camera. So her best photos are of her actively ignoring the camera and looking off into the distance. (And yes, I'm the one hiding behind the lens!)
During our session, there is no pressure to perform, pose, or smile for the camera. I'll go at your pace, allowing you and your pet time to settle into your normal rhythm.
My style is all about capturing real life. I act as an observer-so I can document the natural beauty of your bond. If a little direction is needed, I'm happy to step in, but mostly, I'll just let you two (three or four) be you.
Even if you aren't used to being in front of the camera, if you can set aside self-consciousness for one afternoon, I'm confident you will be grateful to have these memories in the long run.
